Love Me Beauty Box | October 2013

Love me Beauty Box* RRP £10 + p&p
You may remember a while back I wrote about a new beauty box on the scene...Beauteco. Well, they've re-branded and are back as 'Love me Beauty' - a name I actually prefer!
I was so impressed with my last box that I couldn't wait to receive this one. I really love that you get to pick your menu each month - that way you are receiving items you know you want to try and this month I went for option 2. I've wanted to try Lord & Berry products for absolutely yonks and there was an Amie moisturiser that I thought would be right up my street...so you ask, what else was in my box?

LORD & BERRY (FULL SIZE)
SMUDGE PROOF EYELINER RRP £7.50

LORD & BERRY
SCUBA MASCARA (FULL SIZE) RRP £12
I have to say I was really quite disappointed when I opened both the eyeliner and mascara. Both were completely dried out and I couldn't get any product out of either of them to swatch. They were both items I was really looking forward to trying but apparently it's been a fault with most of the boxes and Love me Beauty are working something out to compensate next month! On the plus side - they are both full size items that retail at a higher cost than the entire box, which is a real winner!

BALM BALM  (FULL SIZE)DETOX BATH & SHOWER - 5ML RRP £6

I can't wait to try this bath oil, I'm a huge fan of NEOM organics, so something at a fraction of the price is a welcome addition to my bathroom - however apparently this is the full size, which is super tiny!!

WELEDA (SAMPLE SIZE) 18ML
MILLET NOURISHING SHAMPOO RRP £8.95 (190ML)

I always love testing new shampoos so I'll look forward to trying this out when I next wash my mop! It's got macadamia nut oil in it which is always a plus with me - super nourishing and smoothing.

AMIE SKINCARE
MORNING DEW RRP £4.95
Lastly the Amie moisturiser, another item that took my fancy when picking my menu for the month and yet another full size product! I think I will probably feature this in a monthly favourites as I've used it a few times and so far I am absolutely loving it. For under £5 it's definitely a bargain beauty buy I'll be repurchasing!

Of course, there was a little disappointment this month what with the Lord & Berry products, but it hasn't put me off receiving my next one and I believe that every great company can always redeem themselves in a situation like this!

Are you signed up to Love me Beauty? I'd love to know what menu you went for if so?

Beauteco Beauty Box | July 2013

When I was contacted by Beauteco (the new beauty box in town) my first thoughts were - is this for me? I tried a Glossybox subscription last year and at the beginning I was so excited each month when the box would arrive in the post, but I did find myself feeling less and less enthused with the products and didn't always feel that they reflected the price tag for a monthly subscription. That said I hopped on over to Beauteco's website just to understand them a little better and I have to say I was truly impressed.

As a company they've gone for a completely new approach - something that's clearly important in the competitive beauty box market. Offering you a menu...that's right, an actual menu to choose from. There are 3 different boxes containing a mixture of products so it's not simply a surprise, you're actually receiving items you want and that are more tailored to your needs. As well as 100% recyclable box, let's have a yippee for not having a box within a box!

I will briefly give you the lowdown of my box and it's contents, I opted for menu 2 :)

I absolutely love how dinky this is! Makes it perfect for travelling and is different to any other I’ve used before. I’ve only used it once or twice and the results match up to my urban decay equivalent so it’s definitely getting a thumbs up from me and affordable too.
I haven’t tried this one out yet – I only wear black eyeliner in the evenings on a night out or something, and I haven’t had the opportunity to give it a whirl, but I’ll be sure to report back once I have.

Neal and Wolf Intensive Care Treatment (RRP £12.95) and Volumizing Lotion (RRP £11.95):
Firstly, the packaging is absolutely beautiful and to have these two bottles in full size form is brilliant for a beauty box. Neal and Wolf isn’t a brand I’d tried before, but looking at the packaging I immediately thought ‘luxury’. Let’s have a chat about the intensive care treatment first...products like this are always a must have for me. I regularly suffer with split ends and a simple conditioner doesn’t really cut the mustard. This one smells divine, and ever ever so slightly lathers on application so you can see and feel exactly where you’ve applied. I’ve used it a few times and my hair feels so silky smooth afterwards and my split ends are all sealed. I just apply it instead of my conditioner after shampooing and leave it on whilst I’m y’know, shaving my legs etc. The volumising lotion also smells heavenly and comes in a squeezy bottle. If I’m using a product like this I will always give it a blow dry to see the full effects. This 100% helps create body in the hair, it certainly felt fuller and more bouncy and when teamed with my volumising dry shampoo or hairspray it helps give the roots a bit of a lift too. Overall I love both these products but I think I’d probably only repurchase the conditioning treatment as a staple in the routine!

Pukka Radiance Serum (RRP: £23):
I haven’t tried this bad boy yet, but I’m certainly excited. Serums are my favourite and anything that involves radiance has got my full attention. So I’ll let you know how I get on :)

Honestly, I'm really impressed and with the fact that you can choose exactly what you want for only £10 it's a bit of a no brainer - especially when half of the products retail at much more than that!

October Joliebox | Let's talk Organic

Can you believe it's November already? (cliche of the month). I cannot fathom it's only one more pay day until Christmas, that is seriously scary. Any way, end of the month means Joliebox time, I can't wait to share all my lovely jubbly products with you guys :) And how amazing is it to see Fleur on the cover of the JolieMag?!
c/o Joliebox

Jason – Lips Bee Healthier (RRP £1.99): This little lip balm is one of the loveliest things to ever grace my lips. I opened it and instantly thought ‘where are the after eights?’ it smells just like them! So as you can imagine, it had me at hello. It’s filled to the brim with Beeswax, Vitamin E, Green Tea, Aloe Vera Gel, Shea Butter, Almond Oil and Peppermint Oil *takes a breath* phew, that’s a lorra products in one little balm isn’t it? It is so unbelievably moisturizing and feels so much more expensive than it’s teeny tiny price tag. Trust me, you need it.

Ritessens Exfoliating Face Care: As many of you know, when I find a skincare that fits with my problematic skin I don’t like to budge from it. So when I saw this in the box I was a little skeptical. But I think that’s one of the things that I love about the beauty boxes, they push you to try those products you might have been too scared to test or haven’t heard of before. So, I whipped it out the box and gave it a run for it’s money. Being a natural product I knew it would be kind to my crappy skin and it felt so lovely and soft even with the exfoliant beads. It didn’t irritate my skin and there are no heavy fragrances in it, so I think it’s a keeper! Plus it’s a full sized product which is amazing.

Løv Organic Herbal Tea (RRP tin £9.90): This, is frickin’ amazing. Not only is the little sample packaging too cute for words, but it tastes like heaven in a muslim tea bag. It’s an organic blend of white tea, green tea and green rooibos with little bits of peach, apricot, mango and pineapple to make it extra refreshing and scrummy. The texture of the tea is also surprisingly lovely. I find with most fruit teas they can be quite watery, but this was almost syrupy – without being thick and gross. I just can’t get over how fab they are. I got 6 in my sample box, and I’d drink them all at the same time if I could!

MOA Balm (RRP from £4.99): YAY for affordable, 100% natural products. This is so lovely and ticks so many skincare boxes for me. There’s no fragrance, it’s multi-purpose and it’s suitable for sensitive skin. I’ve been using this on my hands, face and elbows and honestly it’s amazing. It’s a little different from a typical moisturizer, coming in a wax formulation. You rub the wax between your fingers and then apply to the needed area. I’m particularly impressed with how great it’s been on my face. I suffer with an oily t-zone and thought my face might hate it a little but it’s been soaking up all the goodness and controlling my oil fabulously! Super impressed.

Soin Parfait Ulitmate BB Cream (RRP£29.90): I haven’t tried this out yet. I must admit I haven’t hopped on the BB cream bandwagon yet. I’m a bit scared of them to be honest. Although this does promise an anti-blemish complexion with anti-ageing care and SPF25 I think it’s probably a bit marvelous. I’m just so attached to my fuller coverage foundation, but I think I should probably just bite the bullet and see where it takes me!

I’m ruddy impressed yet again with Joliebox and how much thought goes into these wonderful boxes. Pretty sure this box was made for me.

September Joliebox | London Fashion Week

Now, this is my first time trying a Joliebox, and I was super excited when the post-lady knocked the door yesterday afternoon bearing 5 new beauty bits for me to try, squee :)

Before even opening the box, I was greeted with the fabulous JolieMag, which was such a treat. Including interviews with some wonderful ladies and a few hints and tips on making catwalk looks achievable. The contents of the box was tailored to London Fashion week, with the idea that you could use all the products as a pre-fashion week prep. To ensure you were looking your best for the paps ;)
Personally, I think this is a fantastic idea, it makes the beauty box that much more accessible, when all the items can used in conjunction with one another.

C/O Joliebox: Top to Bottom: Redken Align 12, Balmi Lip Balm, Twistband hair-tie, I Love... Coconut Face Mask, Dr Bragi,

I love that the Joliebox comes with a drawstring bag, and inside mine were these little goodies:

REDKEN Align 12 (Full Size RRP £10-15): Now, in my latest post I've admitted that I think less is more with hair care. And I think to some extent, I will always believe that. However, when I spotted this little handbag sized product I was immediately eager to try it. Volume is usually the factor I go for with my hair, but I must admit when I'm in a rush blow drying my hair, it does end up looking like a big fat bush (the tree kind, ahem). This product promises to smooth the hair leaving it silky and completely straight, whilst adding a little protection. I washed my hair last night, and gave it a good blow dry to test the water. I'm impressed. My hair was poker straight, and frizz free but it was still big and bouncy. Big thumbs up from me!

Balmi SPF 15 Mint Lip Balm (Full Size RRP £4.99): I nearly wet myself with excitement when I saw this. I have a big love for lip balms, and this one is actual perfection. Not only is it ridiculously aesthetically pleasing. C'mon guys, it's a cute little ball of lip balm.  But it's application is so clever. The balm itself is domed, which means you can apply it to both your lips at the same time! I got the mint flavoured one, which is so nourishing and soothing on the lips. Definitely going to pick some more of these up! Also, lovely to see a full sized product in the box :)

Twistband Hair Ties: This. This right here is the best thing EVER. Yes, it's a hairband, and I'm probably a bit too excited, but I don't care. It's my favourite thing in this box. I wear my hair up a lot, and sleep with my hair up too (because there's so much of it), and hate that I end up with a big fat kink in my hair when I have to take it down. This new invention not only looks prettier than a regular hairband, it doesn't leave a kink in your hair! It's lighter and less harsh on your hair but still has a great hold. I'm not sure if you can actually buy them in the UK yet, but they're so cheap in the US it's insane. MASSIVE love for these!

I love... Coconut Face Mask (Full Size RRP 49p?): I love (haha) the I love... brand. I have a few of their body washes from Superdrug and they smell divine. However, I really disliked this face mask. When I opened up the sachet the product was so gloopy I couldn't actually spread it over my face! The bits that managed to stick to my face dripped off, and I admit, I took it off before it could fully set. Not something I would consider using again :( (it smelled amazing though!)

Dr. Bragi Bio Marine Exfoliant (Full Size RRP £25): I tried out one of the little satchets before I tried the Coconut mask. I loved it. The fine beads were big enough to feel like they were working the dirt out of my skin, but not large enough to cause any discomfort. My skin felt so smooth and fresh after use and there was no irritation (my skin is super sensitive, so I was impressed)!

Overall, I am massively happy with this months edition, not only was it a new twist on the beauty box theme, meaning I could use all the products in the same evening; but I've discovered some fab brands that I may not have tried otherwise.

Have you signed up for your Joliebox yet? If so, what variety box did you receive this month? :)

p.s. You can still get your hands on this box, if you subscribe by midnight on Sunday 30th Sept!!

GLOSSYBOX April 2012

At the beginning of last week, I received my monthly GLOSSYBOX. Exciting times ladies! If you aren’t too familiar with the beauty box concept, let me give you a brief introduction.
Glossybox offer a monthly subscription to a fabulous little box of beauty goodies. You can pay on a monthly basis (or yearly if you are a diehard fan), for a mere £10 p.m, plus £2.95 postage & packaging. Of which you can cancel at any stage, there’s no catch in this one! & in return for your subscription, each month, you’ll receive 5 high-end products from various beauty brands. The idea is that they are all a smaller size than you’d purchase in the shops, just so you can test the water to see if you like them. Try before you buy etc etc. Glossybox are a little different though, they try to theme their boxes each month, i.e. holidays such as xmas, valentines etc. or Harrods. This month it’s themed around Organic products. & this is what I received:

Figs &  Rouge Balm – Rambling Rose:

I think this has to be my favourite product in this month’s box. It’s a teeny tester pot, but you get such a lot of product for the size. It states on the pot that this can be used for lips, face & body; however I’ve only used it on my lips so far. It’s 100% organic, & smells/tastes uh-mazing. I literally want to eat it. It’s super moisturising & leaves your lips silky smooth with a little glisten after application. I suffer quite badly with chapped lips & this has definitely kept them hydrated, so far, there’s not a crack to be seen, woohoo!! Another fab bonus to GlossyBox is that with some of the items you will receive a discount code to purchase a full size of the product. So, no surprises I got straight on to this & purchased another yummy flavour for a mere £3 with my discount included! What a bargain for such a lovely product.

AYUURI Natural Body Wash - Sandalwood:

This was a full sized product, which is always lovely, seeing as these boxes are just meant to be testers for you to try before you buy. My bottle came in the fragrance Sandalwood. I’d never actually smelt sandalwood before, but I absolutely love it! The thick creamy texture lathers up nicely & leaves my skin feeling really soft and hydrated. I wasn’t jumping for joy over the packaging. The letters were half rubbed off, & well I don’t think it’s that nice to look at. But @ £4.95 a pop, I’m not complaining. Too much anyway.

Caudalie Vinosource SOS Thirst-Quenching Serum:

I’m not too sure on this one. It’s quite a nice product, but I hate the word nice, so that’s not saying much. You’re meant to apply this day and night, bore application of moisturiser or foundation; to restore moisture in the skin. As of yet, I haven’t seen any radical changes, perhaps it’s a gradual improvement. & at £39 per bottle (30ml full size), I’m not sure I’m too convinced.

Inika Cosmetics: Certified Organic Eyeliner – shade 05 Black Caviar:

This. I LOVE. It is so soft & doesn’t drag the eyelid on application. The pigmentation is strong & has super staying power. It does smudge a little too easily I feel, & if you wear it on the bottom lid, you may find it smudges out a little after a few hours – although this is perfect if you’re going for a smokey eye. This was another full size product, @ £11.75 – you’ve already beaten the price of your subscription, which is amazing! I’m definitely going to be purchasing more of these.

KAI Perfume Oil:

Product Description: Our intoxicating signature perfume oil fragrance, which is a light and intoxicating blend of a gardenia top note wrapped in white exotics.

I’m afraid this one isn’t for me. It’s a very heavy floral fragrance, which reminds me of an older ladies perfume. It says that this perfume oil will smell differently on each individual, & on me it smells a bit like popery.

Overall I’m really pleased with this month’s box. To be honest, I don't think I've ever been disappointed with one. If there’s ever been a product I really don’t like, it’s gone as an extra in someone’s Christmas stocking, or just to a friend I know will love it. I’m not sure I’ll ever end my subscription!

What did you lot think of your box this month? & if you haven’t signed up for Glossybox do you think you will now? I’m not sure how you can resist!
