Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation Review

From time to time I fancy a little break from my outfit posts, where I take the time to share with you my latest finds in the world that is beauty.
I am quite the snob when it comes to foundation and have turned my nose up to a fair few high street ‘holy grails’ for the likes of my favourites Esteé Lauder, NARS and Illamasqua. However every now and then I find myself roaming the aisles in Boots, on the hunt for a new discovery, something that will surprise me.  So just before Christmas I took a trip to pick up a few lipsticks from Rimmel and whilst I was there this little blue lidded bottle kept staring at me...

Rimmel’s Match Perfection Foundation – with advanced smart-tome technology promises traceless, flawless coverage that conceals imperfections and leaves no trace of that dreaded foundation line. It’s enhanced with sapphire radiance for an illuminating finish and states that it will last all day.

Now, that’s quite the statement from a high street brand and it’s offering rather a lot for it’s £6.99 price tag. I was intrigued but certainly dubious – after trying out their Wake Me Up foundation last summer I was hugely disappointed (that’s a story for another time), so I was reluctant to try another from them on that basis. Regardless, I made the purchase and the question is...what’s it really like?
In a word? Fan-bloody-tastic. I am honestly blown away with this foundation – it pretty much matches the coverage I get from my Esteé Lauder double wear, whilst giving the luminosity of my Illamasqua Skin Base which is quite the task. I have a super duper oily t-zone so anything that promises to illuminate my face I usually steer well clear of as it 9/10 results in a foundation landslide on my face after an hour or so of wear. But the staying power of this foundation really is impressive; no congealing, caking or slipping after a full days wear – I was shocked to say the least, but very happy indeed. It’s a full coverage foundation, but definitely buildable – the pump applicator means less mess, no waste and the glass bottle gives a higher end feel. I’ve gone for the shade Ivory which I believe is the second from lightest; it matches my skin almost perfectly and blends beautifully with my Real Techniques expert face brush. The consistency is reasonably fluid so a little does go a long way – I’m currently using one and a half pumps to cover my entire face. I loved it so much that I persuaded my mum and sister to make the purchase; Lily is the lightest shade (centre of pic) and mum the one up from me (left), so you can see the change is quite significant in the three shades.

For such a reasonable price, lovely packaging and wonderful coverage I’ll definitely be purchasing this again. It’s going to be my day-time foundation for the foreseeable future and has opened my eyes to the possibilities with high street brands. Big thumbs up Rimmel!
If you fancy giving it a whirl you can purchase it here and I'd love to know your thoughts if you've already tried it :)

NOTD | Rimmel I heart Lasting Finish - Tangy Tangerine | Wonderful You Review

c/o Semichem
Today is just a quick and easy 'nail of the day' post. I am writing this from my sick bed (ahem, dedication right there). Typically my immune system is pretty shoddy - but it seems to have taken a real hit this time. I have the most hideous chest infection which makes me sounds like a teenage boy hitting puberty, my entire body aches and I have conjunctivitis. Truly I am such a pretty sight at the moment (hence the face free blog post haha). Off to the doctor's this evening for some harder drugs ;)

Enough about me! Let's talk about this fruity little number... Rimmel's I <3 Lasting Finish #705 in Tangy Tangerine (*gasps* Jeez, rimmel like their hefty product names dont't they!) - I'm quite partial to a spot of orange lippy but I've never really been one for bright nails (think more deep plums or golds) - but when I spotted this bad boy I couldn't resist. I'm not one for fiddly nail art, so plain and simple is pretty much a given with my nails - however I think this colour does the talking perfectly on it's own.
This collection hosts a range of gorgeous colours from Double decker red to Pear drop. It promises to be hard wearing and chip resistant and I have to say I was really impressed. I am ridiculously heavy handed and seem to smack my nails against anything I possibly can - I usually chip my nail varnish within a couple of hours. But no no, good old tangy tangerine took 4 days to start wearing down (approx 10 days on any normal person!). I applied two coats to achieve this finish - the brush fans out beautifully hitting the majority of your nail with one swipe. And my very favourite thing is that it's only 8ml, personally I never get through a giant bottle of polish so prefer the dinkier sizes, and it's only £2.99 (baaaargain).
I just love love, love it and shall definitely be sporting this little baby in to the spring.

Do you have any shades from this collection? What's your favourite? If you wan't to pick a couple up, they have the 3 for 2 across all Rimmel products in boots!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch

Oooh I just couldn't wait to share this little beauty with you! I've always been a powder blush kinda gal - and I haven't really experimented too much with highlighters. If you're like me, or if you simply can't be bothered with applying both - this product is 100% for you. The Rimmel Wake Me Up Radiance Shimmer Touch (mouthful!!) in Radiant Rose. It's pretty much a mix of cream blush and highlighter rolled into one and is so quick and easy.
It's in a dinky little squeezy bottle, which means it's perfect for using on the go or when you're travelling (hello Australia makeup bag).

It gives a really subtle warm glow and I'm pretty damn impressed. The colour is quite rich but not at all harsh. I tried taking a few photo's with it on, but I wear it so lightly that the camera couldn't really pick it up. Keep an eye out for my Australia post and you'll be able to see me sporting it in a few of the pictures!

What do you think? Have you tried this out yet? For £4.99 you can't really go wrong eh? :)
