Marc Jacobs Honey Gift Set | The Perfect Christmas Gift

Marc Jacobs Honey Gift Set*
I am a complete sucker for pretty packaging and I think it's fair to say it doesn't get much prettier than Marc Jacbos Honey. Everything about this little parcel of joy makes me beam with happiness - from the bright colours to the simplicity of the beautiful box it comes in - I am completely taken with this.

Not only does it make for the perfect Christmas present, it's also a really lovely treat for yourself. On Fragrance Direct - a website infamous for discounted designer brands, you can pick this up for £44.99 (RRP £53), saving you nearly £10 - and we all know every penny counts at this time of year! Especially when the perfume alone costs £41.95, it's pretty much a bargain.

The scent is absolutely delicious, imagine a smell that you literally want to eat and that’s what you’ve got. With top notes including mandarin and pear. Orange blossom, peach nectar, apricot and honeysuckle making up the mid notes and honey, golden vanilla and smooth woods as the base it’s completely floral, bright and feminine.

The reason I love gift sets is because you're receiving the perfect recipe of scent. With a shower gel and body lotion used together the perfume has a base to hold on to for a more prolonged and distinctive scent - something super important to me; if I'm wearing a scent I want to smell of it all day long god dammit!

I don't think there is anything more to say, it's love. (and the bottle looks bloomin' lovely on my dressing table too!)

Jimmy Choo Eau De Parfum Review

Jimmy Choo Eau De Parfum c/o Fragrance Direct
Running out of perfume is one of the worst things to happen to a woman. Dramatic, me? Never. So when this Jimmy Choo perfume landed on my door step you can imagine the joy...even if it smelt like toilet cleaner I would've lapped it up (thankfully, it doesn't and is actually rather gorgeous).

Regardless of the time of day I always reach for a heavily scented perfume. Woody, musky, sexy smells are my ultimate favourite and this perfume has all three wrapped in to one rather beautiful bottle.

The glass packaging is heavy and the indented shapes make it easy to grab hold of whilst you spritz away. Taking inspiration from strong, empowered and seductive women you can safely say this would be 100% suited to an evening wear, but as long as you’re not too heavy handed it can be just as lovely in the day too.

It wasn’t a scent I was familiar with, but I can safely say it’s replaced my Agent Provocateur for the foreseeable future! Having received so many comments since wearing this, it’s definitely worth a whiff when you next find yourself at a beauty counter.

Thierry Mugler's Womanity | Perfume Review

Discovering new perfumes is something that really excites me. Last weekend, my beautiful friend Polly came over and she literally smelt like heaven. I think before I even said hello I asked her what she had on, and when the contacted me and asked me if I wanted to try one of their perfumes I couldn’t quite believe my luck! Obviously, I was a complete copy cat and asked for the same as my friend, .
Thierry Mugler Womanity Perfume c/o Perfume's Club

Not only was delivery super speedy, but how amazing is the packaging? Obviously is massively famous for his Angel perfume and I’d say that’s a pretty hard act to follow, it’s a perfume you either love or hate but everyone knows it’s name. Personally, I really quite dislike Angel, but hey ho that’s not what I’m here to rave about! This perfume is known for it’s unique sweet, salty, woody scent and is literally a feast for your noses ladies. The notes, (completely stolen off the website) are Mara des Bois strawberry for fruitiness, white fig for sweetness, and caviar for a savory marine scent. Now, reviewing perfumes is a tricky business. Everyone is completely different in what they love and hate about a scent. And to be honest, if I read up on the ingredients before I’d smelt it on my friends neck, it’s not something I would’ve picked out but I LOVE IT. I have had SO many comments about how good I smell since I’ve been wearing it; and it’s one of those perfumes that is sexy enough for evening wear, but not too overpowering to wear during the day. And apparently the bottle is refillable, which means you could keep any sort of fragrance in it when it runs out! Which is fab when the bottle is so pretty. The staying power is always a big factor in purchasing perfume and this one is fantastic; I can still smell it on my skin after a 12 hour day which is impressive in my eyes.

I’m also quite excited to discover the Perfume’s Club. They offer hundreds of which is something that makes me very happy indeed. Perfume is just so expensive now, so it’s good to find somewhere that offers it for that little bit less. I got mine in the 50ml size, which is £42.24 compared to £50 in boots! (And still cheaper when you include for delivery) I know it’s not much but I think it makes the difference if you can get your favourite scent for a few pounds less; and if you spend over £130 delivery is free which let’s face it, isn’t difficult to do when it comes to your favourite perfume!

I think this little bottle of joy is going to be a staple on my dressing table – well that’s a lie, I actually keep my perfume in my over-sized birdcage, but it doesn’t have the same sort of ring to it does it? Haha.

Have you tried this scent? Do you love it as much as I do?

Lady GaGa Perfume | FAME

I love Lady GaGa, I realise she's not to everyone's taste but honestly, what a woman. And her talents don't cease at creating fantastic records, no no. She's been working on a brand new fragrance over the past two years and this is the result:

I'm not usually on the whole hype for celebrity frangrances; I mean, they're popular for something else, not making us smell good right? Well, if you're thinking that with this one, DON'T. It's frickin' amazing.

Firstly the packaging = in LOVE. It's not over the top and extravagant like you'd expect from someone as extrovert as GaGa, but it's definitely different. No your eyes aren't deceiving you, that's black fluid right there. It's the first in the market and may be slightly daunting for some, but fear not. The fluid sprays transparent so there's no staining or looking like you've spilled some black tar down your neck. I absolutely love the gold claw clasp, and it pops off ever so easily.

Secondly the scent. Dear GOD ladies, this is literally sexy times in a bottle. I am head over heels in love and have never sprayed a scent on my arm before and wanted to constantly sniff myself for hours on end haha. It's a fruity, flowery scent (again, something I wasn't expecting from her). And instead of following the usual perfume rules, of exploiting top, middle and base notes the scent is focused on Dark, Sensual and Light accords - which basically means combining single scents together.
The scents included on the description are: "tears of belladonna, crushed heart of tiger orchidea with a black veil of incense, pulverized apricot and the combinative essences of saffron and honey drops".
I think the scent is probably targeted to the younger woman. It's fresh and fruity but I'd also say it has quite a musky hint to it, which is something I always look for in a perfume. The staying power is ridiculous, it stays on my skin for years (not literally, I do wash, but y'know what I'm saying). And it smells so expensive and luxurious.

Thirdly the price. In my eyes, it's so affordable. This little bottle of 30ml cost me just over £20 from The Perfume Shop and I think the most expensive bottle (100ml) retails at just over £50. I opted for the smaller bottle, just in case I ended up hating it - which I don't, but I'll definitely be buying the bigger bottle when I run out. BEST SMELL EVER.

What do you think ladies? Have you tried this yet?

GLOSSYBOX April 2012

At the beginning of last week, I received my monthly GLOSSYBOX. Exciting times ladies! If you aren’t too familiar with the beauty box concept, let me give you a brief introduction.
Glossybox offer a monthly subscription to a fabulous little box of beauty goodies. You can pay on a monthly basis (or yearly if you are a diehard fan), for a mere £10 p.m, plus £2.95 postage & packaging. Of which you can cancel at any stage, there’s no catch in this one! & in return for your subscription, each month, you’ll receive 5 high-end products from various beauty brands. The idea is that they are all a smaller size than you’d purchase in the shops, just so you can test the water to see if you like them. Try before you buy etc etc. Glossybox are a little different though, they try to theme their boxes each month, i.e. holidays such as xmas, valentines etc. or Harrods. This month it’s themed around Organic products. & this is what I received:

Figs &  Rouge Balm – Rambling Rose:

I think this has to be my favourite product in this month’s box. It’s a teeny tester pot, but you get such a lot of product for the size. It states on the pot that this can be used for lips, face & body; however I’ve only used it on my lips so far. It’s 100% organic, & smells/tastes uh-mazing. I literally want to eat it. It’s super moisturising & leaves your lips silky smooth with a little glisten after application. I suffer quite badly with chapped lips & this has definitely kept them hydrated, so far, there’s not a crack to be seen, woohoo!! Another fab bonus to GlossyBox is that with some of the items you will receive a discount code to purchase a full size of the product. So, no surprises I got straight on to this & purchased another yummy flavour for a mere £3 with my discount included! What a bargain for such a lovely product.

AYUURI Natural Body Wash - Sandalwood:

This was a full sized product, which is always lovely, seeing as these boxes are just meant to be testers for you to try before you buy. My bottle came in the fragrance Sandalwood. I’d never actually smelt sandalwood before, but I absolutely love it! The thick creamy texture lathers up nicely & leaves my skin feeling really soft and hydrated. I wasn’t jumping for joy over the packaging. The letters were half rubbed off, & well I don’t think it’s that nice to look at. But @ £4.95 a pop, I’m not complaining. Too much anyway.

Caudalie Vinosource SOS Thirst-Quenching Serum:

I’m not too sure on this one. It’s quite a nice product, but I hate the word nice, so that’s not saying much. You’re meant to apply this day and night, bore application of moisturiser or foundation; to restore moisture in the skin. As of yet, I haven’t seen any radical changes, perhaps it’s a gradual improvement. & at £39 per bottle (30ml full size), I’m not sure I’m too convinced.

Inika Cosmetics: Certified Organic Eyeliner – shade 05 Black Caviar:

This. I LOVE. It is so soft & doesn’t drag the eyelid on application. The pigmentation is strong & has super staying power. It does smudge a little too easily I feel, & if you wear it on the bottom lid, you may find it smudges out a little after a few hours – although this is perfect if you’re going for a smokey eye. This was another full size product, @ £11.75 – you’ve already beaten the price of your subscription, which is amazing! I’m definitely going to be purchasing more of these.

KAI Perfume Oil:

Product Description: Our intoxicating signature perfume oil fragrance, which is a light and intoxicating blend of a gardenia top note wrapped in white exotics.

I’m afraid this one isn’t for me. It’s a very heavy floral fragrance, which reminds me of an older ladies perfume. It says that this perfume oil will smell differently on each individual, & on me it smells a bit like popery.

Overall I’m really pleased with this month’s box. To be honest, I don't think I've ever been disappointed with one. If there’s ever been a product I really don’t like, it’s gone as an extra in someone’s Christmas stocking, or just to a friend I know will love it. I’m not sure I’ll ever end my subscription!

What did you lot think of your box this month? & if you haven’t signed up for Glossybox do you think you will now? I’m not sure how you can resist!
