Outfit Post | Country Bumpkin and the Flu

This weekend, I have the dreaded woman flu. I don't know if you've heard, but it's a hell of a lot worse than that silly old 'man flu'. So really, I should have stayed put in bed yesterday, but I had arranged to see a dear old friend and we had such a lovely day. Luckily, she was happy to take a few snaps of me prancing about in a field (I fear I won't be able to muster any sort of energy to make myself up for a wee while); after we'd spent the morning traipsing to the doctors, shopping to our hearts content, stuffing our face with mc donalds and stopping off for a quick pineapple and lemonade (best drink ever, fact). I am now utterly exhausted.

Anyway, you know how I said in my last that I was falling back in love with Topshop again? Well, these snaps definitely back that up.
Blazer: Topshop Top: Vintage Leggings: Topshop Boots: Annie and the Mannequins Hair: MESS

I am a big fat fan of these velvet flocked check leggings. Not only are they super cosy and warm, they're a complete steal. At only £28 I couldn't quite believe it had Topshop's name to it. And I know, before you say it, yes they're only leggings and not jeans etc. etc. but they are amazing quality and so sturdy! I know I'll definitely be wearing them a lot more now the weather's turning a little bit chilly. Autumn/Winter is definitely my favourite time of year. And although I love the sun, I much prefer wearing comfy, warm clothes; I cannot wait to start wearing my big, oversized, fluffy jumpers and ridiculous PJ's.
Yesterday, the sun was out but there was certainly a bit of a chill in the air (may just be my lurgy..). So even though these leggings are SO warm, I thought I'd team them with something a little lighter. The cream blouse is a favourite of mine (actually the mothers underwear, again). It's silky, loose material means it goes with almost anything, and it's lovely and cool. I also popped on my trusty black blazer and . After all, this is the countryside you know.

Have you all had a lovely weekend? Get up to anything exciting?

I love your hair so much, its gorgeous :) pretty outfit too, hope you're over the dreaded woman flu soon! Looks like you managed not to let it spoil your day yesterday though (think that's the defining difference between woman flu and man flu right there!).

HEV please be quiet. I love your hair, and your face and your clothes and YOU. (stalker and don't even care). Thank you though, I hope I feel better too! Sounding like a dying old man is not cool. Ergh xx

Your leggings are really cool, they're the highlight of your outfit, which is very beautiful in its whole :D
Also your hair is kind of perfect to me, and I'm definitely trying to get that color... So I wanted to know, did you bleached your hair before dying it ? And what color/brand did you use to get it ?
Sorry if I'm bothering but I've never seen you mentioning it before, I hope you don't mind me asking !

And I hope you'll be feeling better soon ! xxx

Hi Julia :) don't apologise, of course you're not a bother!! I have never bleached my hair. Naturally, my hair is a mousy brown, so it's quite light which I suppose helps. My hairdresser dyes my hair for me, and she uses a brand called matrix. She mixes two colours (brown and red) to achieve my hair colour. Although, it changes every time because of the sun etc :)

      Hope that helps!xx

    2. Julia17 September 2012 at 16:59

Thank you very much for answering ! Maybe I'll do like you and just ask my hairdresser, it's more difficult to have the result we want when we do it alone.
I'm looking forward to seeing your next posts, always love it :D

Well megan, let me tell you.. Considering you have woman flu, you LOOK BLOODY AMAZING. I mean if you look fit when you're ill, god only knows how smoking you are in real life innit. You make my good days look like I'm really hungover, thrown in a bush, and had my hair all pulled over the place.
Love the outfit, this seems like the perfect attire for a prance around a field (and that's what friends are for right, to take photos...!) xx

I LOVE your hair. I have been playing with the idea of changing my hair color to one a tad darker than yours for months now but I am terrified the color will come out wrong.

I think the sunlight enhances my hair colour quite a lot in these pictures. My hair is quite a bit darker than this, and just a lot redder when the light catches it :) go for it! You can always dye it back :) xx
