My Dark Under Eye Circles Miracle | Bobbi Brown

I don’t know how many times I’ve whimpered to my friends and family about the dark circles under my eyes. I’ve had them since I was a baby and it’s taken me a long time to come to terms with the fact that it’s just a genetic thing and they’re not going anywhere without some kind of cosmetic procedure which I’m far too petrified to even investigate. (Before you say it – yes I get plenty of sleep, usually over 8 hours a night and drink over 2 litres of water a day).
All the girls on my mum’s side of the family have them and since I can remember we’ve all been searching for the ‘bestest’ way to conceal them. For a long time I’ve used YSL’s touché éclat highlighter (which is amazing) – but I have discovered a combination that literally blows that baby out of the park…
Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream & Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light Bisque
Let me introduce to you the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream and Corrector. Firstly, how frickin' gorgeous is the packaging?!
You’ve probably seen the Corrector floating around the blogosphere for ages now – it is used for the under eye area and it’s salmony pink tones are perfect for evening out the black and blue shadows that haunt my eyes. If your circles aren’t too bad, I suppose you could use it instead of your concealer however for me, I use it as a base and put my concealer over the top. I’ve heard mixed reviews about it being cakey – nonetheless I was so super excited when I got to the Bobbi Brown counter in Selfridge’s and the assistant was applying it but when I looked in the mirror it literally looked like I’d wiped creamy cake under my eyes, I almost walked off pretty disgusted as I’d heard such great things, but I thought I’d let the assistant offer an explanation. She advised that my under eye area was so de-hydrated that there wasn’t a smooth service for the corrector to sit on, hence the cakey look. I was pretty bummed.
Then she went and made my LIFE and whipped out their hydrating under eye cream to see if that made any difference to the finish. She removed all my makeup and applied the cream directly under the eye. I almost slapped her hand away when she started – as you’ll probably know it’s a big no-no in the beauty world to apply eye cream directly under the eyes. I was quickly corrected and advised that this particular cream was specifically made for application under the eye to hydrate and revitalise. After application (used with a cotton bud, as not to spread germs within the cream) she left it for a few moments to sink in before applying the corrector over the top.
OH EM GEE - literally I nearly cried. I’ve never seen my eyes look like that before, and perhaps it’s more of a personal thing more than something you can see in real life, I don’t know. But what I do know is that I felt amazing for the first time ever. That probably sounds so dramatic, but when you suffer with circles like I do you’ll know where I’m coming from.

So this little combination is now a staple in my daily makeup routine - thank you Bobbi Brown!! I apply the cream, followed by the corrector and then follow on with my foundation etc. etc. (Note: I'm not wearing foundation in the above photograph, just the Bobbi Brown products and my concealer). Thought you might like to see how it shows up on natural skin :)
I’d be really keen to hear if anyone else has tried these two together, and what they thought. It’s quite a pricey daily luxury, but I’m so glad that I’ve found it. If you want to pick some up, you can do so here and here.

I use both of these! I bought the corrector and I absolutely love it! When I bought it I was given a sample of the eye cream which is amazing and on my list to buy a full size :) when I went to the counter the lady applied the cream directly under my eyes too and I did wonder if that was right but I didn't ask so I'm glad you mentioned it! :) xx

Megs you don't even need foundation! Your skin is gorgeous – I wish my skin would look even a little bit like that without foundation! This post is really helpful, I get really bad dark circles too and was beginning to think there was nothing I could do about them. I'll definitely look into these products, but maybe once I get paid haha xx

Hi Louise, thank you for such a lovely comment. My skin is far from gorgeous, but thank you. I think the sun just helped quite a bit to soak up my blemishes. I would definitely suggest going to the counter and have them try it out on you - I'm so happy I found it. xxx

I can completely relate with this! I hate my dark circles and it felt to me like nothing was doing a good job of covering them up. I picked up the corrector and concealer and I was so impressed I literally couldn't be without my little BB corrector :) love it x

I suffer the same Meg, my under eye dark circles are horrendous! They can be rather dark at times which I find mortifying, I however sleep very badly, I have no idea why.

I've heard that the Bobby Brown under eye corrector 'caked' up too which has put me off buying it in the past as it is expensive however, I will consider it now I know about using the cream first.

    Lovely post :)

I hope you had a nice holiday by the way!

So happy to see your little face pop up on my reading list again! I bought the Bobbi Brown corrector when I was in NY but I'm really on the fence.. it definitely brightens my eye area but it doesn't help conceal my circles much? It blends okay and doesn't cake, which is something I guess! I've never tried a concealer that actually covers my circles though, not even good old collection 2000 lasting perfection does anything for them ;) what concealer do you use over the top of the corrector (if you do?) xx ps. looking beaut in that photo, your skin is amazingly clear and I am envious of your freckles.. the scattering I get in the sunshine are a poor effort in comparison! ;)

Hi Lovely - ahh NY, i'm so jealous!! I don't think it's means to conceal your circles, just help to blend them to your natural skin colour? Which is why I put the foundation and concealer over the top for coverage. Does that make sense? I use the collection 2000. I apply foundation first, then tap the concealer over the top. Hope that helps :) awe thank you lovely - they don't stay put though!! Disappear after a few days!xxx

    2. 30 January 2013 at 18:19

Ah that makes sense! Thank you Megs :) I was wondering if I'd been doing something wrong.. I'll give it a whirl with the Collection 2000 over the top and let you know how I get on (maybe I can find a love for that too while I'm at it haha) xxx

I think I know exactly what you mean...I felt like I was reading my own emotions! My circles are blueish in color and never go away regardless of how well rested I am. From what I understand, the pesky circles can either be brownish or blueish in color. The brown ones are the circles targeted by products (like Clinique)that claim to eliminate the shadow, while the blue ones that we both suffer from are genetic and will never go away. I was devastated after this distinction was explained to me! Even worse, I had spent so much money over the years on those products that didn't work. Anyway...I feel your pain and am so happy you found a remedy! I already have the Corrector in the same shade but never thought to use the moisturizer. I'm going to buy it straight away! Thank you so much for posting this. BTW Your skin is amazing, I can't believe you're not wearing any foundation in those pics!!

I was ecstatic to read this post. I too have issue with dark circles under my eyes. It runs in my family and I generally don't sleep much. I have tried several concealers and always end up upset because they just don't meet my expectations. I haven't been lucky enough to try any Bobbi Brown products, but I feel I have an excuse to. Thank you dearly for this post!

I can not see your under eye circles AT ALL! I have pretty bad ones, mainly because of the lack of sleep though and lack of hydration. I have not yet found a good enough combination so it's just been part of my everyday look.... :( This is interesting! I hope my local Sephora carries this because this is worth checking out!
